Food:
Italy is known for their marvelous dishes. The thing their food is most about is the love that goes into creating it and the joy of sharing meals with family and friends. This is a great aspect to include at any wedding or event.
Cacio e Pepe is a staple of Roman cuisine for its simplicity and a comfort dish. This dish is a beloved pasta dish that translates to “cheese and pepper”. It features 3 simple ingredients: spaghetti or tonnarelli pasta, Pecorino Roman cheese, and black pepper. It originates back to Roman shepherds of the Lazio region, who used readily available ingredients like cheese, pepper, and pasta to create a delicious meal while traveling long distances with their flocks.
Braciole is a key meal in Italian family gatherings. This meal is also called involtini or bruciuluni in Sicilian. It consists of rolled flank steak with breadcrumbs and cheese and cooked in a scrumptious tomato sauce. Italian meals usually consist of vegetables, while meat was served as a treat during holidays or special events.
An incredible Italian dessert and one of my favorites is Gelato, an Italian ice cream that translates to “frozen” in Italian. Gelato has a long history; its early origin dates back to Asia, when they discovered they could consume crushed ice with flavorings. For Italy it starts with the Romans who ate snow from volcanoes, Etna and Vesuvius, covered in honey. The original creator of gelato in the 16th century is unknown, but the most modern form of gelato was created by Bernardo Buontalenti, who prepared a banquet for the King of Spain and served gelato. In the early 1900s the invention of the first motorized freezer created an eruption in popularity for gelato.
Italian Wedding Décor:
Italian weddings encompass so many great aspects from vibrant floral arrangements, lavish candlelight, olive branches and eucalyptus for greenery, and lemons to represent "la dolce vita" (the sweet life).
Some other beautiful key elements in traditional Italian weddings for stylish décor are metal elements such as gold accents. Gold candle sticks or candelabrum, votives, chargers, table numbers, and signs create an elegant touch to classic Italian weddings.
Another charming element to traditional Italian weddings is the color palettes that create a romantic ambiance. The colors of Earthy tones, bright Mediterranean colors, and pastel shades capture the natural beauty of Italy.
